Agent, chat and cloud usage is metered in GitHub AI Credits since the June 2026 plan change. Code completions and next edit suggestions stay unmetered on paid plans. Flex allotments can change over time.

GitHub-hosted models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, xAI and Moonshot. Local BYOK in VS Code, JetBrains, Xcode, the CLI and the app connects OpenAI-compatible, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic or Ollama endpoints and bypasses GitHub's API, so some features are not available on it. Eclipse is also supported but is not in the hosts list.
